Grace Health is looking for an OB/GYN to join our growing team! The Obstetrician participates in the direction and provision of clinical services and maintaining standards of care in the OB/GYN department.
Provides medical consults for and collaborates in patient care with advanced nurse practitioners and certified nurse midwives, as indicated.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for prolonged periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires normal vision acuity and hearing. Requires exposure to communicable disease and body fluids. Requires working under stress in emergency situations or during irregular hours.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Exposed to communicable disease, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: (This list may not be all inclusive.)

1. Provides leadership and direction of all clinical OB/GYN services.

2. Provides medical back-up for midwifery service and all other advance practice nurses, if applicable.

3. Provides direct patient care, case management, consultation and collaboration with other team members in the provision of health care at Grace Health and Bronson Battle Creek Hospital within the scope of their specialty.

4. Responsible to review audit findings, provide in-service training, review changes in service and implement new programs.

5. Ensures continuity of care by sharing in providing emergency call coverage, attending medical staff and OB/GYN department meetings and scheduling medical practitioners for coverage.

6. Responsible for continuing development of CNMs and medical staff through the provision of in-service and other training opportunities, if applicable.

7. Maintains professional association with the hospital medical staff, promoting Grace Health programs on both a group and individual basis.

8. Participates in the promotion of educational settings and experiences for the practice of medicine, nursing and health related fields.

9. Participates in quality improvement activities which may include literature review, development of standards of care/protocols, chart reviews, data analysis, and action plans.

10. Conducts medical practice utilizing ancillary and pharmacy services with appropriate cost effectiveness when appropriate.

11. Participates in the recruitment, orientation and retention of all medical practitioners as indicated.

12. Participates in peer review activities.

Education: Graduate of an accredited school of medicine (MD, DO or equivalent medical degree from a non-US medical school)

Completion of an accredited MD or DO residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology

Experience: Three years of experience in area of specialty preferred

Hospital Privileges: Full clinical privileges in Obstetrics/Gynecology at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital

Certificate/Licenses: Current Michigan Medical license

Board Certified or Board eligible with timely progress to certification

Current Controlled Substance license

Current DEA certificate

Current BCLS certification
